Building a Future-Ready Marketing Team with AI

As a marketing leader at an EdTech company, I’m constantly thinking about how we can stay ahead of the curve, especially in a rapidly evolving landscape driven by AI. Building a truly innovative marketing team isn’t just about adopting new tools; it’s about cultivating a mindset. We have a large commitment company-wide to AI which helps create curiosity for employees. Here’s a look at some of the concrete steps I’ve taken to foster a vibrant culture of experimentation and AI integration:

I make it a point to personally test and experiment with new AI tools and platforms. This not only helps me understand their capabilities and limitations but also leads to more insightful dialog with how weโ€™ll use or not use a tool. It also signals to the team that exploring new tech is a priority and a shared journey.

Instead of large, overwhelming workshops, Iโ€™ve been holding hands-on training sessions for specific AI applications with 4-5 people. Each session is super focused on a specific tool and use case.

โœ…” Sharing experiences and learnings is crucial. In my all-hands meetings, individual team members provide overviews and tangible results, whether it’s saving time, improving campaign performance, or generating new ideas.

We’ve made it a specific goal for each marketing function (e.g., Content, Email, Paid Media, etc) to identify and implement at least one new AI application that drives efficiency or effectiveness within their specific area.

The results? A marketing team that’s not just adapting to the future, but actively shaping it.
